Craig Barrow is a designer working across objects, sculpture and spaces. His practice is rooted in close observation of patterns, materials and relationships; both human and natural, and explores how things are made, how systems behave and how people interact with objects and environments.
Through processes of abstraction, imitation and re-contextualisation, these observations evolve into new forms and environments, becoming the basis of his work.
Born in Nottingham, UK, Craig studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton and now lives and works in Berlin.

I was commissioned by designer Nelly Ben Hayoun to design and produce a series of props to accompany her Disaster Playground project being shown at the Z33 House for contemporary art, Hassalt, Belgium, which ran from 5th October until 4th January 2015.
The pieces included a desert highway diorama complete with mini cacti; world map pool table, with hand carved world relief map flocked in blue velvet and accompanying curved benches; Route 66 diorama; hand-painted Route 66 sign; laser-cut hand-painted Disaster Playground emblem sign; flags and many various other small objects and props.
Disaster Playground is a creative platform investigating the design of emergency procedures within NASA and other global space programmes.
A big thank you to Julia Barklem, Camilla Lambert, Sarah Hibbert, Rob Grimshaw, Isobel Goodacre, Morgan Chugg-Jones, Josh Bitelli, Zosia Poulter, Roger and Barbara Laschelles, Keiren Jones, Maddy Flynn, Raissa Pardini, my mum and anyone else I've forgotten.
